1. Who can apply to open a NYPUM program?
Non-profit or municipal organizations that have provided youth services for five or more years.
2. Can more than one organization participate in a program?
Absolutely. Collaboration between youth service organizations is highly encouraged. It is a great way to share expenses and reach more youth.
3. Where do programs ride?
Off-road riding lessons are done in a large open field. Programs go trail riding at locations accepted by their respective states.
4. What are the age limits to be in NYPUM?
Boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 17 can be in NYPUM. There is also a youth role called the Junior Leader for role models between the ages of 14 and 18. Junior Leaders are assigned to groups and their responsibilities focus on developing leadership skills.
5. Can adults other than Certified NYPUM Instructors ride in the program?
Yes. Other adults can be trained by Certified NYPUM Instructors as Track Safety Supervisors (TSS). TSS cannot teach minibike riding but
they can supervise riding activities and supplement adult : youth ratios.
6. How can I support an individual program or several programs?
Individual programs rely on financial contributions to sustain their services. Also many programs accept volunteers.
