NYPUM offers communities a means to collaborate. Programs rely on support from local businesses and citizens. Collaboration with other non-profit agencies is a wonderful way to involve more youth, strengthen community partnerships and defray operating expenses.
Several agencies have an opportunity to come together and share a program to help youth and families in their community.
NYPUM could not operate without its network of supporting programs and partners.
American Honda Motor Co., Inc. began sponsoring NYPUM in 1969 because they realized the need to give at-risk youth an
alternative to negative behaviors. Honda donates all of NYPUM's minibikes and provides annual funding which supports the national
offices and subsidizes program expenses for training, quality improvement visits and special events.
Currently more than 50 programs operate nationally, hosted by accomplished non-profit youth agencies.
NYPUM's training programs follow guidelines set by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF). Additionally MSF-trained individuals
teach riding instruction at NYPUM Certification Workshops.
Every NYPUM program is supported by a Honda dealer. Dealers participate as part of their own support to their local communities.
